Fred studied Ceramic Arts at the University of Idaho, followed by a residency at the Archie Bray Foundation, in Helena Montana. It was at The Bray, surrounded by a diverse and talented group of artists and artisans, he honed his craft and developed his particular style.

His craft was interrupted as he pursued a career in business. Now that his life circumstances have changed, allowing for optional pursuits, he has come back to his first passion; pottery.

“Form and function are two separate and distinct elements in my pots. While function often dictates elements of the form, there is wide latitude to be explored. I favor warm, softer colors, strong lines, and vessels which feel good in your hands”.
